Staying Healthy During the Holidays

Do you feel like the Pillsbury Doughboy right now?  If you're anything like me, then you're spending this holiday season surrounded by carbs and sugar. Can feel yourself inflating by the minute? Here are some easy ways to incorporate fresh fruits and veggies into your day to help counteract the adverse effects of all those Christmas goodies.

Simple Ways to Get Your Daily Dose of Fruits & Veggies

Fruits

Yogurt Pops are easy to make and a great treat for kids or adults.

Take your favorite fruits and  blend them with some plain or vanilla yogurt. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze. You can even throw in some granola for extra crunch!

Fruits & Veggies

Green Smoothies are delicious, and a good way to "disguise" a salad.

Take some greens such as spinach, and throw them in a blender with green apples, celery, a small chunk of fresh ginger, and whatever else you like. Blend and enjoy.

Veggies

Roasted Veggies are yummy, packed with vitamins, and so versatile.  You can eat them hot or cold!

Take your favorite hearty veggies, and slice or chop them into even-sized pieces. Toss with a drizzle of olive oil, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Roast in the oven at 350 degrees until tender and golden.

Start good habits now! When the New Year rolls around it won't be so hard to recover from the holiday feasting and settle into healthier habits.
