The Art of a Handwritten Note

LivingDeanne CapotostoComment

Make someone’s day.  Send a handwritten note.  You may even receive one in return.

I have been sending notes since I could sign my name.  When I first started sending notes, my mother would write them for me, and I would sign them. Once I learned how to spell, I was on my own.

At a young age, my brothers and I would send thank you notes and birthday cards to friends and family.  To this day, my brother Michael and I still practice what our mother taught us.

It is not a chore, but a joy to send these notes.  Michael, the artist, has even sent me a piece of cardboard that he drew on, addressed and mailed.  My sister-in-law has taught my niece and nephew to send thank you notes.  Nothing brings me more joy than to receive a hand-drawn card and note from Luca and August.  I display and enjoy these cards until I date and save them in a designated bin.  I will share all their masterpieces with them when they are older.

There is nothing like that personalized note, handwritten on a card or piece of stationery specifically chosen for the recipient.

Here's my favorite Italian stationary, Florentia. You can find it here.

It doesn’t matter whether the purpose of the note is a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary or just to let someone know that you are thinking of them.  They are all wonderful.

I am a loyal customer of Hallmark, who offers all types of styles for every occasion.  For very special celebrations or my annual Christmas cards, I shop at Papyrus.  Their cards and stationery are worth every penny.  I enjoy finding unique and beautiful stationery and always have a few options on hand at all times.

Think of someone you would love to receive a card from and send him or her one today.  A simple, thoughtful message is perfect, even if you don’t have the time or want to put the pressure on yourself of writing a long note.
